The Department of B.A.F. & B.Com. of Anand Vishwa Gurukul Senior Night College, Thane, in collaboration successfully organized an inter-departmental debate competition titled “Bull vs Bear: The Verbal War” with the objective of nurturing critical thinking, effective communication, logical reasoning, and persuasive speaking among students.

The event was conducted under the able guidance of Respected Management, Principal Dr. Harshala Likhite, Asst. Prof. Vinayak Joshi (Professor In-charge) and Asst. Prof. Sachin Ambegoakar (Non-Academic Coordinator). Asst. Prof. Ashish Mulay (Coordinator – BAF) and Asst. Prof. Sagar More (Coordinator – B.Com.) serving as the event coordinators. The programme was efficiently managed with the support of student volunteers from BAF and B.Com. Department.

The competition was judged by Asst. Prof. Manisha Saraf and Dr. Rupesh Dhruvanshi, whose insightful observations and constructive feedback greatly enriched the learning experience for the participants.

The competition witnessed an overwhelming response, with 12 teams comprising 24 students representing various programmes, including B.A.F., B.Com., B.M.S., B.B.I., and I.T. The participants engaged in thought-provoking debates on contemporary and socially relevant themes such as “AI: Job Creator or Job Destroyer?”, “AI is a Better Accountant than Human,” and “Ethics Over Profit: A Necessity or an Obstacle?” Students passionately debated contemporary topics, presenting well-researched arguments, logical reasoning, and persuasive viewpoints while demonstrating confidence, teamwork, and respect for differing opinions.


 

The event proved to be an intellectually stimulating and enriching experience for both participants and the audience. It provided students with an excellent platform to enhance their public speaking, analytical thinking, confidence, and decision-making skills while fostering a spirit of healthy competition and mutual respect.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from our students, who displayed excellent agility, coordination, discipline, sportsmanship, and competitive spirit throughout the tournament. Based on their performances, the selected players will represent our college in the upcoming intercollegiate table tennis tournaments.

As part of the Field Visit / CEP (Community Engagement Programme), a visit to Prashant Corner Factory, Wagle Estate, Thane, was organized on 22nd July 2026. The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure and an opportunity to understand the functioning of a real-world industrial and business establishment.

During the visit, the students gained valuable insights into the operational processes, workplace environment, and various activities involved in the functioning of the factory. The experience helped students connect their academic learning with practical applications and develop a better understanding of real-world business operations.

The visit provided an informative and engaging learning experience for the participating students. It enabled them to observe professional work practices and gain practical knowledge beyond the classroom environment. Such field visits play an important role in enhancing students’ understanding through direct exposure and experiential learning.


 

Conclusion: The Field Visit / CEP visit to Prashant Corner Factory was an informative and enriching experience for the students. It provided them with valuable practical exposure and helped bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world applications. The visit contributed to the overall academic and personal development of the students by encouraging experiential learning. The Department of B.Sc.I.T. expresses its sincere gratitude to the Management, Principal Madam, and all those who supported and facilitated the successful organization of the visit.

ONE-DAY SEMINAR ON CYBER SECURITY

ONE-DAY WORKSHOP ON CYBER SECURITY

To promote career awareness and provide students with valuable insights into the rapidly evolving field of technology, a One-Day Seminar on Cyber Security was organized by the Department of B.Sc.I.T. for the B.Sc.I.T. students.

The seminar was conducted by Dharmendra Sir, who provided students with valuable insights into the field of Cyber Security, its growing importance in the modern digital world, and the various career opportunities available in the industry. The session focused on enhancing students’ awareness of current industry trends and equipping them with practical knowledge and skills related to cybersecurity.

The seminar was highly informative and interactive, enabling students to gain a better understanding of cybersecurity concepts and their real-world applications. Through practical insights and industry-oriented discussions, the students were introduced to essential cybersecurity skills that can contribute to their academic and professional development.

A total of 102 B.Sc.I.T. students actively participated in the seminar. The students showed great interest throughout the session and gained valuable practical knowledge that will help them understand the importance of cybersecurity and explore future career opportunities in this rapidly growing field.


 

Conclusion: The seminar was a great success and served as an excellent platform for creating career and industry awareness among B.Sc.I.T. students. The session provided students with practical insights into Cyber Security and helped them develop a better understanding of essential cybersecurity skills and their real-world applications. The valuable guidance provided by Dharmendra Sir enriched the learning experience of all the participants. The Department of B.Sc.I.T. sincerely expresses its gratitude to the Management, Principal Madam, and Vinayak Joshi Sir for their valuable support and permission to conduct the seminar. The combined efforts of the management, faculty, resource person, and students contributed to the successful execution of the event.

Parent Teacher Meeting for S.Y. & T.Y. Students

The Parent-Teacher Meeting for Second Year (S.Y.) and Third Year (T.Y.) students was organized to strengthen the collaboration between parents and faculty in supporting students' academic growth and overall development. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss students' academic performance, attendance, discipline, extracurricular participation, and career readiness. Faculty members shared valuable insights into each student's progress while parents expressed their feedback and concerns, fostering a constructive and transparent dialogue.

The Parent-Teacher Meeting concluded on a positive and encouraging note, reinforcing the importance of continuous communication between parents and educators. The active participation of parents and faculty helped establish a shared commitment toward the academic success and holistic development of the students. Such interactions play a vital role in creating a supportive learning environment and motivating students to achieve their full potential.

ONE-DAY WORKSHOP ON MOBILE PROGRAMMING

To commemorate the successful completion of 10 remarkable years of Anand Vishwa Gurukul Senior Night College, a One-Day Workshop on Mobile Programming was organized on 12th July 2025 in collaboration with the Department of B.Sc.I.T. and IQAC.

The workshop commenced at 2:00 PM with a welcome address by Dr. Harshala Likhite, Principal of the college. She highlighted the college’s journey and the significance of practical learning. This was followed by insightful remarks by HOD Prof. Gautam Thorve and IQAC Coordinator Prof. Ashish Mulye, who emphasized the role of such workshops in skill development and academic growth.

The resource person for the session was Prof. Omprakash L. Mandge, Associate Professor and Course Coordinator at MET ICS. His engaging session covered core topics in mobile programming, including Android app development, user interface design, and industry trends. Through practical examples and live demonstrations, Prof. Mandge made the session interactive and informative.

A total of 126 B.Sc.I.T. students actively participated in the workshop. The students showed great interest and asked several questions, especially during the Q&A session at the end, which added to the value of the workshop.

Conclusion: The workshop was a resounding success and served as a perfect way to celebrate a decade of academic excellence at the institution. It provided students with hands-on exposure to mobile programming and current industry practices. The presence and expertise of Prof. Omprakash Mandge enriched the learning experience for all attendees. The combined efforts of the management, faculty, and students—especially the coordination by Prof. Ashish Mulye (IQAC Coordinator)—ensured the smooth execution of the event. We look forward to organizing more such events in the future to continue fostering academic and professional growth among our students.
